Ascot Priory

“It is truly astonishing to find such a place of peace and tranquillity, right in the heart of the bustling Thames Valley commuter belt.”

Nestling in 40 acres of beautiful woodland and gardens the Priory is now a centre for Retreat and Personal Renewal.

Only recently vacated by its former monastic community, the Priory has an amazing atmosphere of peace and stillness, stemming from its history as a place of prayer and contemplation for hundreds of years. There is no live-in community any more and the Priory is now a dedicated retreat centre which is beautifully self-contained with a main lounge where we run the retreats, a little kitchenette and only 10 bedrooms which means we have the whole place to ourselves when we run our retreats there.

The en-suite bedrooms are comfortable, with a writing desk and armchair, the main lounge is airy and spacious, with comfy chairs and sofas. Downstairs there is another lounge with comfy seating and the light-filled the dining room, with a lovely veranda overlooking the spacious gardens. The church in the priory is still run as a parish church and is open all day there is also the beautiful modern, white ‘Lady Chapel’ which provides a lovely peaceful place for people to sit in prayer or quiet contemplation.

The gardens at Ascot are magnificent with a year-round display of beautiful shrubs, stunning ornamental trees and mature woodlands with well-marked paths for walking, or wandering off as you feel inspired. As you walk in the peace of the gardens, it is truly astonishing to find such a place of peace and tranquillity, right in the heart of the bustling Thames Valley commuter belt.
